U.S. 10 ¢ Fractional Currency Note- Fifth Issue 1874-1876 (WBW-curr16051104)
This 10 cent fractional currency note, being one of the easier ones to find out of the myriad of bills issued throughout the 5 series from 1862-1876, makes a good start for a collection of fractional bills, being very reasonably priced.
This 10-cent note is from the Fifth and final issue of Fractional Currency, issued from 1874 to 1876. It features a portrait of William M. Meredith, Treasury Secretary from 1849-1850.
Nice average circulated condition, bill measures 3.25" x 2".
The United States issued Fractional Currency from 1862 until 1876. These small denomination bills were needed during the Civil War years and the years immediately thereafter due to a shortage of circulating money, as most folks hoarded as much money as they could during those tough and uncertain economic times.
We currently have more than one of these bills in stock, so the one you receive may be slightly difference in appearance, but will be in similar condition or better.
